North Star Montessori teachers are members of the American Montessori Society as well as the Michigan Montessori Society. They attend yearly conferences earning over 20 professional training hours in current research and teaching practices in Early Childhood Education. These new ideas and learning tools are implemented immediately at North Star Montessori to continually offer the best educational experiences across the curriculum to your child.

North Star Montessori is a full Member school of the American Montessori Society which is an indication of the highest standards in Montessori education.  North Star Montessori  lead teachers have degrees in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education and Montessori Early Childhood Certifications.They complete accredited American Montessori Society (AMS) programs such as ADMTEI, Adrian Dominican Montessori Teacher Education Institute located in Adrian, Michigan.

The ADMTEI Teacher Education Program requires a10 months Academic phase which covers:

  • World Culture & Geography 
  • Peace Education
  • Music & Movement
  • Family Involvement

In addition to the Academic Phase, Montessori teachers complete internships in American Montessori Society approved schools under AMS credentialed lead teachers.

The American Montessori Society requires each Montessori teacher candidate to complete a nine-month practicum experience in an Early Childhood (ages 2½ through 6) classroom.
