Our mission is to provide an optimal educational experience for children which nurtures the whole child and their development.

Our Classrooms
The design of our classrooms are well thought out and carefully prepared to stimulate the child's learning.  Everything in the classroom is child sized to allow the child to independently move and discover.  There is order and beauty in each material the child may choose. The rooms are cozy with plenty of natural light, plants, and intimate work spaces where children discover math, language, science, geography, Spanish, art, sensorial, everyday living, and a peace area.  Children take off their shoes and wear slippers or house sandals to keep the room tidy.  Maria Montessori named her first school The Casa dei Bambini which translated from Italian means The Children's House.  Here at North Star Montessori our focus is to create an optimal space specifically designed to engage children's learning by preparing everything in the environment to meet the child's needs and development. 

Special Events
Throughout the year North Star invites a variety of guests to come into the classroom.  We frequently have parents who share special talents, interests,jobs, and travel experiences with the children.  This year we had Connor's dad share his love of drumming and Emma's mom bring in her African treasures.  Parents and grandparents often volunteer their time to help celebrate holidays.  In addition, we have had authors and musicians come to inspire our students.  Each year we invite community members such as firefighters to teach fire safety . We also take field trips.  One of our favorite field trips is the hands on museum, Kids n' stuff, in Albion.
